Spot - Satellite Personal Messenger and GPS

If you are like us you may have tried using your VMS for keeping in touch with home as well as sending the required information to the gummint. If so, you have probably learned that even if you keep usage minimal the costs for the service can quickly get out of hand.

Well, Globalstar may have a better idea. Their little "SPOT" device sells for around $150.00 and the service is a flat $100/year. For that you can access their satellite system to send an unlimited number of pre-programmed messages (there are 3 to choose from) to the multiple contacts that you have chosen.

It's not quite a video-phone call, but it may be all you really need to either tell the folks at home you are okay, ask for non-emergency help or send a genuine S.O.S. type message.
